Connect appoints new CEO | Adam Young To Take The Reins As CEO

Connect appoints new CEO.

Communications partner Connect is delighted to announce that its chief operating officer Adam Young is set to take the reins as CEO. The appointment follows the planned departure of Alex Tupman, who had been group chief executive since the merger of Connect Managed Services and G3 Comms in July 2019. Adam brings to the role proven management skills and deep knowledge of Connect’s business and clients, plus more than 25 years’ experience within the communications industry. The appointment will take immediate effect.

Adam has been the chief operating officer at Connect since June 2019. He was co-founder of G3 Comms and before that of Genesis Telecommunications, and was instrumental in the growth, leading to eventual sale, of both businesses. He will bring his focus on revenue and profitability to the role of CEO, helping Connect build on the strong foundations established under Alex Tupman.

Connect’s chairman Mark Thompson said: “I speak for the whole of the business when I say that we’re hugely grateful to Alex for his leadership since 2014, and over the last two years in particular. He ensured that the merger of Connect and G3 was a real success, combining not only the skills and capabilities of the two businesses but also the cultures. He was clear in his own mind that once the unified business was at full strength, he would move on to new challenges: it’s to his credit that he has been able to do this so soon, and we all wish him the very best in his future ventures.”

Mark added: “We’re delighted to be able to appoint Adam to the CEO role: the appointment of an internal leader ensures continuity for Conn3ct, and its customers, at what remains an exceptionally challenging time.”

Adam’s strong team ethos, building on what he learned in the world of sport, has been a feature of his leadership style and will ensure the wellbeing of staff remains a priority, alongside customer excellence. He will continue to be supported by Peter Francis, Group CFO, and Martin Cross, Group CTO.

“While our business has thrived over the last year, I know it’s been a very difficult time for many of our people and our clients,” Adam said. “We’re proud of the way our solutions have helped people stay connected – as friends, colleagues and with their customers – and we are ready to help many more. We’ve proven we can still deliver innovative and effective solutions under current circumstances and my role will be to ensure we deliver many more such solutions. It’s an exciting opportunity to lead a great business to the next level.”
